Big L Windows & Doors specializes in the sales and installation of high-quality windows, entry doors and patio doors in Western New York. Founded in 1975 by Ed Horbett and his son Bill as Lumo Products, the business quickly incorporated as Big L Distributors in 1976 after expanding its offerings to include aluminum replacement windows. Over the next two decades, the company continuously innovated by adding insulated steel doors, pioneer vinyl windows, and wood window products, culminating in the opening of their first public showroom in 1988. Despite a devastating fire in 1998 that destroyed their original facility, Big L rapidly relocated to Cheektowaga, launching an installation service that transformed their business model and set off a period of rapid growth.

By the 2000s, third-generation leadership under Bill Horbett Jr. helped drive further expansion across commercial, builder, and residential markets. Rebranded as Big L Windows and Doors in 2013, the company evolved from a wholesale contractor supplier into a full-service leader servicing six distinct markets. Marking key milestones—including its 50th anniversary, a major facility expansion, and broadening its geographic footprint into Rochester—Big L has grown from its humble four-person beginnings into an industry mainstay employing over 70 people.
